Was it too soon for Bill to ask Sookie to marry him ?

OK, let's tackle this right now !

We have the timeline finished for True Blood season 2 and you can find all of it here We also know the timeline for True Blood Season 1 and the Sookie books- so let's look at all of them.

In True Blood from the night Bill walks into Merlotte's for the first time until the proposal is about 1 1/2 months or 43 days. So if you think that's moving too fast, now you know the length of time it really was.

In this books, there is no proposal but from the time Sookie meets Bill until he disappears is approx. 6 months. Book 1, Dead until Dark takes place about May 2004 and Bill and Sookie split up of book 3 , Club Dead occurs the first of December 2004.

1. Dead until Dark- between April 4th and June 21st 2004
2. Living Dead in Dallas - Early September 2004
3. Club Dead -December 1-13th 2004

Well i feel that it was too early for
Bill to ask Sookie to marry him,he
does love her but IMO the only reason
Bill asked her is because of Eric.
Other wise they would have went on
the way they were.

Whoa, Rita! I hadn't even thought of that, but it really makes a lot of sense. He is feeling very threatened, and there is not much he can do about Eric. I think he noticed them eye-balling each other in the meeting with Nan Flanagan.

And even if it weren't the reason, it was still a bit too soon. And way too orchestrated. There's Sookie, needing repairs on her house and driveway, and he's spending a fortune renting out an entire restaurant.

Had it even become legal for them to marry anywhere but New Hampshire or Vermont (can't remember which)?

In book #1 Bill becomes an investiga-
tor,but AB did not use that so i think he just swapped it out.I think
it was in later books that the marri-
age in La.became legal.

I don't know. My hubby and I met June 29 and were married Oct. 10. 11 years and a baby later we are fine. I'm thinking Sookie could have handled it - at least while she didn't know Bill was a lying, cheating, bastard.

I think Bill was just trying to lock Sookie down to further protect and keep her from Eric. Not that he didn't want to marry her, just the rush to do it seems off. And also because he fears what she will do when she finds out about his ulterior motives in coming to Bon Temps.
