Robert Downey Jr. Is In Talks To Be The Next Vampire Lestat

From Slashfilm

After Neil Jordan’s intense and vivid Interview With the Vampire and Michael Rymer’s deathly dull Queen of the Damned, and in step with the current Twilight-fuelled vampmania, it looks that Universal is looking to reboot the cinematic incarnation of Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles. The first book in the series was Interview, and I’d imagine a purist-pleasing reboot would start there, though I don’t really expect that to be the case here. Even though Interview and Queen were Warner Bros. films, they’re still fresh in the memory and frequent enough on cable that they’re also far from being forgotten.

Anne Rice wrote the script for "Interview with the Vampire" and Neil Jordan did not change it much that is why Interview is closer to the book than "Queen of the Damned," Where Michael Rymer made a huge mistake was to diviate from the books and lost the fan base. Stewart Townsend was cool but he did not look like Lestat. Lestat tells you what he looks like in most of the books on the first page...it's not hard to find out.
Note to Universal, remember to hold true to the book as best you can, or go the route of Queen of the Damned...you could be twittered to an early death.

Another note to Universal: Queen of the Damned had to be boxed with Interview to sell it!
