When HBO’s ‘True Blood‘ lets rip with its third season on June 13, viewers should brace for quite the influx of new blood.
The new faces include the werewolf Alcide, to be played by Joe Manganiello (’One Tree Hill’), and his psycho ex, Debbie Pelt (Brittany Morgan, ‘The Middleman’. On the family front, we’ll meet Sam’s mother (J. Smith-Cameron) and younger brother (Marshall Allman, ‘Prison Break’), and reconnect with Bill’s Civil War-era wife, Caroline (recast with Shannon Lucio, ‘Prison Break’).
Colorful newcomers include The King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington (played by Tony winner Denis O’Hare); Sookie’s fairy godmother, Claudine (Lara Pulver, ‘Robin Hood’); Tara’s overprotective beau, Franklin Mott (James Frain, ‘The Tudors’); and Lafayette’s new love interest (Kevin Alejandro, ‘Southland’).

True Blood‘s Ryan Kwanten says when doing a nude scene tie the “modesty sock” on really tight
Vampires, maenads, telepaths, shapeshifters — even the Fellowship of the Sun.
As True Blood‘s oft-shirtless — and ever clueless — resident mortal hunk Jason Stackhouse, Ryan Kwanten has just about seen it all –- and he’s done it without having to worry much about a wardrobe. But as the third season of the HBO hit series gears up for it’s June 13 premiere, Sookie’s older brother can breathe a slight sigh of relief (and maybe let himself go a bit) as the rest of the cast will be doing the bulk of the flesh-baring.
“I’ve passed the nudity mantel,” Kwanten tells PEOPLE at Ubisoft’s launch of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. “Some of the others cast members have taken on the throne.”
And a sometimes chilly throne it is.

Televisonary does an advanced review of True Blood Season 3
Gotta say I am never too happy with all the advanced dvd going out every year of the first 3 episodes - nothing ends up being a mystery until episode 4 it all leaks out.
It's time once again to invite HBO's gloriously addictive vampire drama True Blood, returning in just a few weeks' time with its third season, back into our homes.
Based on the strength of the first three episodes of the season, there's no need for it to use a glamour, as viewers will only be too willing to let it in without a struggle.
When we last saw the inhabitants of Louisiana bayou town Bon Temps, they were recovering after their brush with the immortal maenad Maryann (Michelle Forbes) and tensions were running high. When poor, doomed Eggs (Mehcad Brooks) finally remembered the actions he had taken while in her thrall, he sought to make a confession to Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer), only to be shot to death by Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten). Elsewhere, Sookie (Anna Paquin) considered a marriage proposal from Bill (Stephen Moyer), only to discover that he had been kidnapped.

I had the opportunity to watch the first three episodes of Season Three of True Blood and was quickly sucked back into a world of supernatural intrigue, illicit passion, and seductive darkness.

'True Blood' gets an infusion for Season 3: Werewolves
From USA Today- one of the first really good and interesting articles I've read about Season 3 !
Werewolves, to be exact, will join the peculiar world of vampires, shape-shifters and mind readers who spice up the third-season HBO drama, returning June 13 (9 ET/PT).
"It's just another element added to the supernatural craziness of it all," says Anna Paquin, who plays the telepathic Sookie Stackhouse. "There's no way you can ever get bored on a show like this. When you think you've seen it all and done it all, something weirder and wilder comes out of the woodwork."
Weirder and wilder should provide an infusion of Oh! positive for an avid fan base that more than doubled during Blood's second season to 5 million viewers for each episode's first broadcast. Adding in replay, DVR and on-demand viewing, Blood ranks second only to The Sopranos among HBO series in total viewership.
The thirst for Blood may be unquenchable. Fan site true-blood.net reports more than four times as many visitors in the past 30 days as in the corresponding period in 2009.
Why do fans respond so strongly? "Part of us yearns for the muck of the primal," says series creator and executive producer Alan Ball. "We still have part of us that feels in awe of nature and all of the stuff that is bigger and scarier than us. ... I think True Blood has evolved into a show that can feed that desire, that incorporates fear, terror, sex and transcendent behavior in a way that's really entertaining and funny at the same time."

Some sizzling True Blood spoilers from creator Alan Ball
Alan Ball has a promise for True Blood viewers. The characters in his randy, violent, supernatural series aren't going to experience long-term happiness anytime soon.
"Here's the thing about happiness: It's great in our lives, but it's not really that interesting to watch on television," said creator Ball, whose series is about to premiere its third season on HBO on June 13.
Ball feels season three is "the best season yet." Along with the "fantastic core cast," several new regulars will be introduced this season, as well as a number of impressive guest stars, such as Alfre Woodard, who plays Lafayette's mother. Beyond that, "We are dealing with some new supernatural creatures. ... It has just been a really fun, exciting season to put together, and I just have really, really high hopes for it. ... I can't give anything away."
Well, actually he did give some things away ... like these nine spoilers ... (And between the spoilers you'll find most of HBO's clever posters.)
1. The Shifters and the Weres: This season will take us into "the shape-shifter world and the were world. They are two different kinds of creatures with a lot of similarities," said Ball. On the were side, "There are a handful of werewolves, the main ones being Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello), his ex-girlfriend Debbie Pelt (Brit Morgan), [and] a couple of werewolves named Coot and Gus, who are Grant Bowler and Don Swayze."
On the shifter side, "Sam Merlotte [Sam Trammell] is going to meet his biological family. He is going to go on a journey to find his birth family and is going to be successful in that regard." Joining the cast is Marshall Allman, who plays Tommy Mickens, Sam's brother, who may or may not be a shape-shifter.

‘True Blood’ Season 2 Blu-ray and Social Media
A little more on the social media value built into the new Blu-ray version of True Blood Season 2
HBO Video’s May 25th release of True Blood: The Complete Second Season isn’t the first Blu-ray Disc to include Facebook and Twitter features. But it may be the best.
The discs allow users to post to Twitter and Facebook in real-time while watching episodes and even select certain scenes to post to Facebook. Conversely, up-to-the-minute “True Blood” Facebook page and Twitter news can be fed into the discs while fans are watching.
“Our ‘True Blood’ fans are so active on Facebook that it made a lot of sense to connect BD Live to Facebook,” said Sofia Chang, SVP of marketing for HBO Video. “By providing such a robust experience as we did on ‘True Blood’ Live Feed, we engage those fans on a deeper and personalized level while simultaneously allowing them to share it all with their friends.”
Additionally, the more a fan watches the season, the more easter eggs and virtual gifts they can earn.
There’s more: While watching the series, users can decide which “True Blood” group they wish to join, including Vampire, Fellowship of the Sun and Follower of Dionysus. The viewing experience is then tailored to that group.
Lastly, hardcore fans can use a picture of themselves that can be transformed based on the “True Blood” group they select. For those that choose Vampire, the more they watch, the more pale (and bloody) the picture gets.
Blu-ray exclusive features:
-Character Perspectives: Learn more about what's going on straight from the mouths of Hoyt, Pam, Karl, and Steve Newlin
-Flashback/Flash Forward: Move through time in the world of Bon Temps. Flashback to relive pivotal moments or Flash Forward to reveal the significance of a certain scene
-Pro/Anti-Vampire Feeds: Receive news updates and information from both organizations throughout the episode and decide which camp you support
-Hints/FYI: Don't miss a beat with these FYI trivia facts and show hints and clues
Also includes:
-The Vampire Report (Special Edition): Check out the past year's biggest stories in vampire news, politics, and popular culture in the special edition of The Perspective with Victoria Davis
-Fellowship of the Sun: Reflections of Light: Rules to live by with Fellowship of the Sun leaders Steve and Sarah Newlin
-Seven audio commentaries with the cast and crew, including Alan Ball, Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Michelle Forbes, Alexander Skarsgard, Rutina Wesley, Ryan Kwanten, Sam Trammell, and many more
