Stephen Moyer's Fund at Brentwood Theatre
Greetings!
Steve is Patron of Brentwood Theatre, Brentwood, Essex, UK, and their building renovations needs completion. "Stephen's Fund" is a way for fans to help Brentwood finish the construction and possibly get his autograph!! With the response to date, fans are jumping aboard to help!
What's more, Charlaine Harris == author of the Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire books that inspired Alan Ball == just made a donation, and is happy to help endorse this cause! She is featured on the front page of our site.
Your publicity would be very much appreciated as a voluntary endeavor. What would be super is a small link on your homepage for our ongoing campaign.
You'll see they have created a nice link to the press release, which is so great for us. Steve is so happy with the enthusiasm, and has begun to sign the hundreds of certificates needed for such great fans!!
We've even had a couple of sites email me for the Press Releases to post because their users wanted to know about "Stephen's Fund" that they had heard about from blog to blog.
Sure hope your site will help, too. If you DO decide to list our cause, will you kindly reply and send me the link? Thanks.
Please contact me with any questions, and do get back to me either way, so I'll know whether to add you or delete you from our list!
Thanks so much!

Stephen Moyer: There will be Blood- sept 08
True Blood is HBO’s fang-tastic new vampire drama, based on Charlaine Harris’s popular series of books, The Southern Vampire Mysteries. Abbie Bernstein caught up with one of its stars, Stephen Moyer, to talk about vamping it up…
True Blood isn’t Stephen Moyer’s first time as a vampire. However, this is the first time he’s had to wear fangs, he explains with a laugh. “I did play a vampire in 1998, in a [BBC] series called Ultraviolet, and I have these canines that you can see.” He displays his teeth in a cheerful smile, displaying surprisingly large real canines. “So we decided [in Ultraviolet] not to give me fake teeth. But in this one, we have different teeth. It’s quite funny. As a kid, I had to wear a retainer to push the teeth straight. And [wearing the True Blood fangs is] like having a retainer. You kind of have to [puts on lispy voice] talk like this and you have to learn to talk with them in!
“It’s quite difficult, but we’ve all got much, much better at talking with them in,” he continues. “There was more looping [re-recording of dialogue] at the beginning, but people have got better, and we’ve kind of reduced the size of the teeth a little bit, so actually, there’s very little looping now.”
Coming out of the coffin
Essex-born Moyer has worked all over the world – he’d recently wrapped up the USA miniseries The Starter Wife – and had just returned to England when he was approached about auditioning for True Blood. At the time, he was unfamiliar with Charlaine Harris’s books, The Southern Vampire Mysteries, about what happens when vampires “come out of the coffin” in a small Louisiana town and try to integrate, with varying degrees of success, with human society. The focal point of the books and the HBO series, adapted by Six Feet Under writer Alan Ball, is a telepathic human waitress, Sookie, played by Anna Paquin, who scandalizes her small town by befriending Bill (Moyer) the vampire.
“I wanted to be back in London,” Moyer says, “I wanted to be with my kids, and so I turned down a few scripts. I didn’t want to come to America straight away, but then they sent this and I found out it was by Alan, I read it, and put myself on tape the next day. Alan saw it that afternoon and I flew [to the States] the next morning. As soon as I got the job, I started doing the research and reading the books. My character’s from the American Civil War, so I started reading about that. I could totally understand what Alan saw in [the books]. Sookie’s amazing, Bill’s a fantastic character and the world that Charlaine sets up is just unbelievable.”
Funnily enough, Moyer says that he and Anna Paquin virtually had to trade appearances. “When we had those initial meetings with Alan, I was tan and blonde, and she was white with black hair, and we’ve kind of reversed roles completely.” Moyer has had his hair dyed black, while Paquin’s hair color is now Sookie’s gold. Likewise, Moyer enjoys the California sun, but vampires aren’t supposed to tan, whereas Sookie has to be even rosier than usual to contrast with her new nocturnal friends.
Also in the cast is Alexander Skarsgard, lately of HBO’s miniseries Generation Kill, as high-ranking vampire Eric. Moyer explains that between Bill and Eric, “the relationship is one of respect but mutual dislike.
"His character’s a thousand years old and my character’s 170 years old," he continues. "And, in our story, the older you are, the stronger you are. So [Eric] is very strong and even though Bill can stand up to him and fight him, he ultimately has to kowtow to what Eric wants him to do. Apart from in one respect, and it’s very important, and that is that when we have a [human] girlfriend. When a vampire has a partner, another vampire is not allowed to encroach on that turf. So as much as Eric would like to, he can’t, because it’s against vampire law and that of course is a big lure to Eric.”
Life-changing experience
Bill’s back-story, before and after he became a vampire, is of great interest to Moyer. “We go [in flashbacks] to the American Civil War. We go back to Bill when he was turned, over 140 years ago, in 1862, when he went off to fight in the American Civil War. Three years later, he comes back, and that’s when his life changes. He’s got a family, he’s got a wife, and we see him revisit that in his mind.
"That was a beautiful thing to do, it was very moving, and it was amazing for me doing the research into that period of time, because it’s not something that’s taught in British schools. I’ve got ideas [about Bill’s past]. I learned that the character who turns him is somebody that he’s attached to. In this world, when you’re turned from a human into a vampire, the person who turns you has power over you and you’re linked to them inextricably.”
Moyer knew series creator Alan Ball and New Zealand actress Anna Paquin, both Oscar winners (Ball for American Beauty, Paquin for The Piano) by reputation, but he insists he had no preconceptions about either of them. “One of the great things was, that first day that we met [about True Blood] was the first time that I’d met Alan and Anna. I think Alan’s an extraordinary genius and there was this link – there was an amazing conjoining thing between the three of us!”

Google maps of the Sookieverse

Charlaine Harris
Bon Temps is according to Sookie about an hour away from Shreveport.
Bon Temps must be closer to Monroe than Shreveport as Denise Rattray told Hoyt that she would not sell him any weed unless he took Mack Rattray to the hospital in Monroe. We know Hoyt did because Sheriff Dearborne's niece is the emergency room nurse at the hospital in Monroe and she told Bud Dearborne that she saw them there. If Bon Temps was closer to Shreveport, it makes sense to go to the hospital there.
Rev Newlin was killed on the freeway. He must have been closer to Dallas/Fort Worth than Shreveport but he wasn't necessarily in Dallas/Fort Worth.
It's about a 3 to 3 1/2 hour drive from Dallas/Fort Worth to Shreveport.
It's about another hour from Shreveport to Monroe.
In 1.03 Mine, the vampire Malcolm (at Bill's house) says they have a long ride back to Monroe. I guess "long ride" depends on the circumstances.

- Vampire blood has healing properties (and kewl after-effects) when ingested by humans.
Miscellaneous Information:
- Small numbers of vampires often live together in groups called "nests".

- Vampires cannot enter a residence unless invited in. (Bill answers Sookie's question on Sookie's front porch.)
- Vampires must leave the residence if the invitation is withdrawn.(Bill answers Sookies' question on Sookie's front porch.
Weakness:
- Silver burns the vampire's skin and weakens him. (As evidenced by the couple that tried to drain Bill -- 1st episode?)
- When vamps are staked they don't turn to dust or become skeletal. They erupt into a bloody mess.S1E1.09
- Hep-D (or is it Hep-V) seems to be an illness that, while carried by humans with no ill effects, can be transmitted to, and is especially harmful to, vampires.
Vampire Law:
- Government:
- Geographic Zones: Governed by the oldest vampire at that location/called sheriff?
- Tribunal: Appears to be the court

- It's against the law for a vampire to kill another vampire. S1E1.09
- It is not yet legal for humans to marry vampires (10/26 epi).
- A vampire may place a human under his/her protection from other vampires by stating the human is his or hers (Bill says of Sookie "She's mine" to the trio of vampires in epi 3 [?]).
Contrary to popular vampire lore:
- The sign of the Cross doesn't harm vampires. Neither does garlic or Holy Water.
- A vampire's fangs are retractable.
- Vampires can cast reflections in mirrors.

Review of the new Sookie short story " Lucky"
The short story “Lucky” is the first story in the new anthology Usual Suspects ( just released) edited by Dana Stabenow. The short story takes place in late September ( 2005 and is either occurs right before or right after book 7 "All Together Dead") and involves Sookie Stackhouse and her friend/roommate Amelia Broadway and centers around the local insurance agent Greg Aubert .
One day greater Alpert comes to visit Sookie and Amelia to ask for help to solve a mystery involving his office recent break-ins. He’s very worried that it seems that someone has been coming into his office and looking through the files of his customers, now the interesting hing about Greg is that his mother is a witch and his office is protected by her spells so how someone is doing this is a “supe” mystery.
He doesn't know who to suspect and asks Sookie to listen in to his family and his secretary to help him find out who's been coming into his office. Greg brings in his family to Merlottes one night for dinners so that Sookie can listens in to their thoughts.
The most interesting thoughts center on Greg’s teenage daughter, Lindsay who seems to besides herself in thinking about her new boyfriend. Amelia comes in later to the bar to tell Sookie that she thinks that there's yet another mystery brewing in Bon Temp and that is that she thinks that they're is a new young vampire living in town.
She and Sookie drive over to the vampire’s home and while sitting outside his house Sookie decides to call Eric to see if Eric knows of any new vampires that had moved into Bo Temp. She calls Fangtasia and is told that Eric and Pam are out for the evening and the bartender doesn’t think that there are any vampires in Bon Temp. She reluctantly decides to break down and call Bill Compton.
Bill sounds concerned and tells her not to approach the new vampire and promises to be right over. The new vampire must've seen them sitting in the car and yanks Sookie out of the car, Amelia tries to come to her rescue with one of her spells and Bill arrives in time to subdue the new young vampire. It seems that the young vampire has only been a vampire for two months and that his maker had been staked and killed -so he is alone. He is also a refugee from Katrina and New Orleans and he is the one who is dating Greg Aubert’s daughter Lindsay
The new vampire whose name is Dustin has not checked Eric is therefore broken vampire rules. Bill takes to Eric.

One Word Answer by Charlaine Harris
Author: Charlaine Harris
Genre: Fantasy
ISBN: 0-515-13970-X
Pages: 24
Rating: 1/5
Series/Anthology: In the anthology Bite, also part of the Sookie Stackhouse series.
About this book:
Sookie finds out how her cousin, Hadley, is murdered.
My thoughts:
I have no idea why Harris wrote this short story. It was pointless and didn't really tell you anything important. I am very disappointed and was expecting so much more. Some...explaination I guess you would say.
This story is based on when the Queen sent Mr. Cataliades to see Sookie and tell her that she inherited Hadley's money and belongings. He tells her that she was in a cemetary doing a ritual with the vampire named Waldo who Cataliades brought along with him since he was the limo driver. Anyways, the ritual was to bring someone back from the dead. He tells her that humans came along and staked her during the ritual and Waldo got hurt too. Sookie however realizes that while they are talking about the Queens favorite people that Waldo used to be a favorite of the Queen and that he was jealous of Hadley and he was the one who killed her. Cataliades told Sookie that the Queen knew of his betrayal and wanted Sookie, being her next of kin, to kill Hadley's murderer. However Sookie refuses and wanted Waldo sent back to the Queen so she could do whatever she wanted with him. Waldo went after Sookie because he didn't want to go back to the Queen knowing that she would punish him far worse than just getting staked so since he attacked Sookie, Bill ended up staking him. The Queen steps out of the limo and to be honest, this is where I get confused. They have this conversation where the Queen ends up asking Sookie all these questions and Sookie gives her one word answers and the Queen gets back into the limo and Sookie says at the end, "Thank God for one word answers".
I know...stupid right?

What do we know about Sookieverse Vampires and sunshine ?
sookie rescues bill bk3
The door opened, and I checked to make sure the blanket, which happened to be fuzzy and yellow, completely covered his head. Bill moaned and went almost completely limp when he felt the sunlight, weak and watery as it was. I began talking to him under my breath, cursing him and challenging him to move, telling him I could keep him awake if that bitch Lorena could, telling him I would beat him up if he didn't make it to the car. Finally, with a tremendous effort that left me trembling, I got Bill to the trunk of the car. I pushed it open. "Bill, just sit on the lip here," I told him, tugging at him until he was facing me and sitting on the edge of the trunk. But the life left him completely at that point, and he simply collapsed backward. As he folded into the space, he made a deep pain noise that tore at my heart, and then he was absolutely silent and limp.
The explosion bk 7
“We could try sliding the coffins down.”
“They’d break on impact,” Cecile said.
“But the vamps would survive the explosion,” I pointed out.
“To be burned up by the sun,” Mr. Cataliades said. “Diantha and I will go up and try to get out the queen’s party, wrapped up in blankets. We’ll take them…” He looked at me desperately.
“Ambulances! Call 911 now! They can figure out where to take them!”
Diantha called 911 and was incoherent and desperate enough to get ambulances started to an explosion that had not happened yet. “The building’s on fire,” she said, which was like a future truth.“Go,” I told Mr. Cataliades, actually shoving the demon, and off he sped to the queen’s suite.
bk 6 II
I’d done everything about getting humans out that I could. Cataliades and Diantha could take care of the queen and Andre. Eric and Pam! I knew where Eric’s room was, thank God. I took the stairs.
“Eric, Pam!” I yelled. I fumbled for a light switch in the pitch-black room, felt the building sway. At least one of the upper charges had gone off. Oh, shit! Oh, shit! But the light came on, and I saw that Eric and Pam had gotten in the beds, not the coffins.
“Wake up!” I said, shaking Pam since she was closest. She didn’t stir at all. It was exactly like shaking a doll stuffed with sawdust. “Eric!” I screamed right in his ear.
This got a bit of a reaction; he was much older than Pam. His eyes opened a slit and tried to focus. “What?” he said. “You have to get up! You have to! You have to go out!”
“Daytime,” he whispered. He began to flop over on his side.
I slapped him harder than I’ve ever hit anyone in my life. I screamed, “Get up!” until my voice would hardly work. Finally Eric stirred and managed to sit up. He was wearing black silk pajama bottoms, thank God, and I spied the ceremonial black cloak tossed over his coffin. He hadn’t returned it to Quinn, which was huge luck. I arranged it over him and fastened it at the neck. I pulled the hood over his face. “Cover your head!” I yelled, and I heard a burst of noise above my head: shattering glass, followed by shrieks.
Eric would drop back to sleep if I didn’t keep him awake. At least he was trying. I
remembered that Bill had managed to stagger, under dire circumstances, at least for a few minutes. But Pam, though roughly the same age as Bill, simply could not be roused. I even pulled her long pale hair.
“You have to help me get Pam out,” I said finally, despairing. “Eric, you just have to.”
There was another roar and a lurch in the floor. I screamed, and Eric’s eyes went wide. He staggered to his feet. As if we’d shared thoughts like Barry and I could, we both shoved his coffin off its trestle and onto the carpet. Then we slid it over to the opaque slanting glass panel forming the side of the building.
Everything around us trembled and shook. Eric’s eyes were a little wider now, and he was concentrating so heavily on keeping himself moving that his strength was pulling on mine.
“Pam,” I said, trying to push him into more action. I opened the coffin, after some
desperate fumbling. Eric went over to his sleeping child, walking like his feet were sticking to the floor with each step. He took Pam’s shoulders and I took her feet, and we picked her up, blanket and all. The floor shook again, more violently this time, and we lurched over to the coffin and tossed Pam into it. I shut the lid and latched it, though a corner of Pam’s nightgown was sticking out.
Finally! We punched the coffin all the way through. The window let go of its frame and cascaded down the side of the building.
And Eric saw sunlight for the first time in a thousand years. He screamed, a terrible, gut wrenching noise. But in the next instant, he pulled the cloak tight around him. He grabbed me and hopped astride the coffin, and we pushed off with our feet. For just a fraction of a minute, we hung in the balance, and then we tilted forward. In the most awful moment of my life, we went out the window and began tobogganing down the building on the coffin. We would crash unless—
Suddenly we were off the coffin and kind of staggering through the air, Eric holding me to him with dogged persistence. I exhaled with profound relief. Of course, Eric could fly. In his light-stunned stupor, he couldn’t fly very well. This was not the smooth progress I’d experienced before; we had more of a zigzag, bobbing descent.
....However, the coffin with Pam inside had a bad landing, and Pam
came catapulting out of the remains of the wood and into the sunlight where she lay
motionless. Without making a sound, she began to burn. Eric landed on top of her and used the blanket to cover both of them. One of Pam’s feet was exposed, and the flesh was smoking. I covered it up.
I also heard the sound of sirens. I flagged down the first ambulance I saw, and the medics leaped out. I pointed to the blanketed heap. “Two vampires—get them out of the sun!” I said. The pair of EMTs, both young women, exchanged an incredulous glance. “What do we do with them?” asked the dark one.
“You take them to a nice basement somewhere, one without any windows, and you tell the owners to keep that basement open, because there are gonna be more.”
....halfway there. His face was bright red and steam was rising from his lips. Oh, my God. “What you going to do?” “I have to go back in there,” I said.
“Fool,” she said, and then threw herself in the ambulance, which took off.
bk 6 III
I looked into the opening revealed by the shifted debris. Bill was crouched inside, half his face burned away. He was wearing the clothes I’d last seen him in the night before. I arched myself over him to keep the sun off, and he said, “Thanks,” through cracked and bloody lips. He kept slipping in and out of his comatose daytime sleep.
“Jesus God,” I said. “Come help!” I called, and saw two men start toward me with a
blanket.
“I knew you’d find me,” Bill said, or did I imagine that?
I stayed hunched in the awkward position. There just wasn’t anything near enough to grab that would cover as much of him as I did. The smell was making me gag, but I stayed. He’d lasted this long only because he’d been covered by accident.
Though one fireman threw up, they covered him and took him away.

Can TV take strike two? ( and how might this effect True Blood season 2 ?)
A SAG walkout would severely test broadcast nets
By Nellie Andreeva
Already engaged in deep soul searching following a dismal fall TV season and flatlining ad market, broadcast networks are facing another blow: a potential SAG strike early next year.
SAG's decision during the weekend to seek a strike authorization from its membership following the breakdown of its negotiations with AMPTP has shifted the once-remote possibility of a SAG walkout much closer to reality.
While its effect would not be as far reaching as this year's strike by the WGA -- a SAG walkout would only affect scripted primetime fare -- it would derail the broadcast season for a second straight year, this time in the midst of a severe economic crisis.
"Everyone is praying that it won't happen, but the reality starts to sink in that there may be a strike," one TV studio exec said.
On Monday, TV executives who normally would be embarking on a Thanksgiving vacation were working on contingencies. For now, there are no plans to cancel or shorten the primetime series' holiday hiatuses, scheduled for the last two weeks of December, in order to get more episodes in the can.
The bulk of primetime scripted series will have 60%-75% of their episodes completed before they stop for a holiday break and as many as five unaired episodes in various stages of postproduction.
Things look better for such returning midseason series as WGA strike casualty "24" and comedies "Rules of Engagement" and "According to Jim," which will have completed their orders by the end of the year.
