'True Blood' scoop: Who's coming to Bon Temps in season 5?

Since the citizens of Bon Temps dropped like flies (RIP Jesus, Marnie, Nan, and possibly Tara) on True Blood‘s surprising finale, season 5 will introduce fresh meat and showcase some familiar faces. “There will be a very significant, strong, mysterious woman at the center of one of our main stories next year,” says co-executive producer Raelle Tucker. “That will be a very familiar and compelling character. It may be someone you’ve heard of before.” We will also once again visit the fairy world touched upon at the beginning of season 4. Says Tucker, “Season 5 will explore more fairies, new fairies, fairies in a way you haven’t really seen fairies. We will all, as well as Sookie, come to understand fairies more than in previous seasons.”

Kristin Bauer Interview: ‘True Blood' Actress Talks Season Finale, Sexy Co-Stars & Pam's Future

If there's one thing fans of HBO's "True Blood" know, it's that quick-witted vampire Pam (Kristin Bauer) has been dealt a few harsh blows this past season. First, her one true confidant -- and blood-sucking badass partner-in-crime -- Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) turns into Mr. Nice Guy, and then that evil witch (literally) Marnie (Fiona Shaw) casts a spell that starts to rot Pam's flesh. And if there's anything that Pam loves more than Eric, it's her pretty little face.
In Sunday (Sept. 11) night's season four finale, the tension between Pam and her maker Eric reached a humorous boiling point when Pam, ever the dramatic, throws a bona fide vamp temper tantrum at Fangtasia, exclaiming, "I am so over Sookie and her precious fairy vagina and her stupid name." And while Pam's less-than-pleasant sentiments may have echoed the thoughts of millions of viewers, it didn't do much to detour Eric from Sookie's, well, "precious fairy vagina."

'True Blood' Season Finale Recap: Night of the Living Dead

In its four seasons, the only thing that's remained predictable about True Blood is that nothing is ever as it seems. Alan Ball, a master of twists and turns, has succeeded in leaving his audience salivating for Season Five with "And When I Die." Although Sookie makes her long-awaited choice between Bill and Eric, and Marnie's control over Bon Temps is finally vanquished, we are left with very little resolution as Season Four closes out, and a multitude of cliffhangers pepper the story lines. Long-lost villains from seasons past (Russell Edgington! Steve Newlin! Rene!) are creeping their way back into the lives of Bon Temps' residents, only hinting at the evil to come. And as the episode title teased, death is a prominent visitor in this season finale, with Jesus making the ultimate sacrifice to save the man he loves – and Tara doing the same to protect Sookie. The creatures of the True Blood universe took one hell of a beating this season, but it looks like it was just a warm-up to the terror that awaits them in Season Five.

CAMBRIDGE, Ontario, Canada—True Blood fans (Trubies) were glued to their television sets last weekend for the HBO hit series’ season finale which featured a Coquette Masquerade costume. Actress Lauren Bowles’ character Holly Cleary was shown wearing the Fairy costume, model M6033, from the Masquerade Collection.

“It is extremely exciting and flattering to see one of your creations come to life on such a well-known and popular hit series,” said Elaine Carson, senior designer. “As a designer this is a fabulous way for our work to be recognized and is quite rewarding.”

The piece is intricately made with varying layers of sheer nylon and topped off with an embroidered layer with ribbon and sequin appliqué. This costume was designed with the inspiration to be light, playful and youthful and when worn in this episode by Bowles’ character, the piece offers her a truly feminine appeal.

True Blood Scoop: Rutina Wesley Will Be Back For Season 5… But In What Form?

Rutina Wesley is a popular lady after the death of poor Tara last night on the season finale of True Blood.
In this interview below, she speaks to Michael Ausiello about Tara’s death, or is it a death? As you will read, since Rutina has a contract for Season 5, its certainly possible that she will return. 
In the closing minutes of Sunday’s True Blood finale, the actress’ seemingly cursed alter ego, Tara, jumped in front of a bullet intended for her BFF Sookie and got her brains blown out. Literally.
“I have to say it was actually kind of cool having my brains blown out,” confesses Wesley with a laugh. “All of the special effects and everything… It was cool.”
If she sounds surprisingly chipper for someone who just lost her job on one of TV’s most successful shows, it’s probably because well…she didn’t actually lose her job. In the following Q&A with TVLine, Wesley confirms that she will be back for True Blood‘s fifth season — but that’s only half the story.
TVLINE | When did you first find out Tara was getting shot in the head?
[Series creator] Alan Ball himself pulled me aside early on and told me that this was happening. And I was like, ‘OK, that’s cool.’ I know I’m coming back in some capacity, I just don’t know how I’m coming back. It’s scary as an actor to be in that position. Whatever they do, I think it’s the Golden Hour for Tara. But I don’t know how they’re going to revive me or if I’m dead. And that’s the big question: Can she be saved?
TVLINE | Has your contract option for Season 5 been officially picked up?
Yes. I know I’m coming back. I just don’t know in what capacity.
TVLINE | If she is brought back to life, it seems unlikely she’ll just be the same old Tara.
I like playing a human on the show. I like not having any powers. I like being the voice of reason. But it wouldn’t be a drama if we didn’t have a shift in things. Everything’s up in the air because half of my head is missing. [Laughs] I know Alan has big plans for me next season. But has he shared those plans with me? Not really.

True Blood’s Season Finale Kills Off All the Right People by Meredith Woerner of io9.com

Last night, the season finale for the fourth year of True Blood came and went with a wet fart noise. Some of it was good, but most of it was bad. True Blood can do better than this, which is why we're looking forward to the fifth season.
But let me explain it to you in Pro/Con style.
Pro: Lafayette/Marnie calmly stares at Jesus in completely silence, nothing suspicious here…and stabs Jesus with the fork.
Con: Doo-da-doo, making coffee with Sookie! NOPE! Dead Grandma on the floor.
Con: Tara spent the night at Sookie's house, so now Tara is cool staying in the house with Eric in it? After that fantastic "Fuck you guys!" speech? Way to stick to your guns, Tara. Also, had you stayed at Lafayette's house, Jesus might not have been hand-forked.
Con: Sookie explains how Marnie channeled Gran all those days ago, notes how she took none of her advice. Sookie continues on saying that she "feels like her Gran is here," like really, really here. Which in True Blood foreshadowing language means, "Grams is coming back in about 20 minutes." So yay?
Pro: "What are we magnets for fucking craziness?" Yes. And clearly Sookie is keeping said magnet in her vagina.

True Blood Recipe of the week: Maxine Fortenberry's Pork Rind Cassserole

Don't know if this is Maxine's Pork Rind casserole but rinds are low in carbs and can be used lots of ways. This is a perfect end of summer recipe so we'll just make this one of her dishes ;-)

Summer Squash Casserole

2 cups yellow summer squash, sliced, cooked, and drained
1 small onion, finely chopped - optional
3 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons heavy cream
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup Cheddar cheese, grated.
salt & pepper to taste
1/2 cup crushed pork rinds

Combine all ingredients.
Place in a 1 quart casserole.
Cover top with crushed pork rind crumbs.
Bake uncovered at 325 degrees for 30 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.

Characters Who Exhibited A Lot of Growth This Season

• LaFayette. From the token black gay guy who swishes in to say something sassy to one of the best written characters on the show. He’s a mess of contradictions and Nelson Ellis makes them all WORK. One of the few characters in all of television with such a wonderfully consistent voice. A fry cook turned medium who could easily anchor his own show.
• Jesus. From LaFayette’s eye candy to a living breathing character. He was conflicted about his cultural roots and the dark nature of them. He genuinely cared for others–including batshit crazy Marnie. He was gorgeous. He finally confronted his grandfather. Also he and LaFayette shared a deep and abiding love. Unlike some characters Jesus and LaFayette showed us and told us they were in love and we believed them.
• Tara. She finally stopped being the victim of every bad thing ever–except for when she was Marnie’s evil henchwoman for an episode. She was smart, sassy and clever. Also she was gay and it only felt a little insulting instead of super insulting.
